Holidays coming soon!

I can't believe that Halloween is here already. This year has flown by, and the 2005 holiday season isn't far off.

That means that we're going to have to start researching where we want to go for Christmas. With all of the recent hurricanes that have hit the Atlantic, we'll need to find somewhere that didn't get a lot of damage. Hurricane season doesn't end until November 30th, so there is still a month left for more storms. They are being named with the Greek alphabet, since they ran out of English names.

Last year we went to Montego Bay, Jamaica This place is one of the most amazing places on earth, or at least I think so. The place we stayed at (Sunset Beach) had a great beach with clean sand, watersports and snorkeling. There is a waterpark that was supposed to open in December of last year, but to my knowledge, is still under construction. Island time is a lot different than anywhere else on the earth, but I'm sure it will be open someday.

We went on a jungle river tubing adventure that was a lot of fun. Our river guide was a nice young man that wanted to go to college for a degree in accounting because he didn't want a job in the "sun". He told about his life in Jamaica and about our surroundings as we lazily tubed down the river. Jamaicans take great pride in their history and pass this knowledge generation to generation. He told us about the great bamboo trees that grow until they fall over and about the fisherman that put out traps for lobsters.

He told us it was a 3 hour drive to get to his job everyday, so he had love for the job. So much that he traveled the entire length of the river with a number of other riverguides. It was a trip that took them 3 days.

I would recommend a Jamaican vacation for anyone looking for a tropical vacation.
