I enjoy Ringtones
What's not to love about ringtones? Especially those made by
Verizon RingtonesI think that my favorite ringtone would have to be "In da Club" by 50 cent. For some reason whenever I hear it it gets stuck in my head for days and days. It must be the upbeat attitude of the song and the performer.
Next favorite ringtone would be "My Humps" by the Black Eyed Peas.
What are your favorite ringtones? I'd love to hear!
Where did the sun go?
Apparently it's been lost behind a thick cover of gray storm clouds.
It's been raining here for about the last 3 days, and some towns nearby are having flooding. I can't think of anything worse than walking into your house to find it underneath 3 inches of water and other debris. Luckily we weren't affected by the flooding, but the rain is starting to get on my nerves.
I haven't been able to get my daily miles on my bike or swim, which has me feeling a little cranky today. I should probably just go ride my bike anyway like some sort of nut ;)
I'm sure the event planners at the
Cleveland Grand Prix are feeling the same. Racing and Rain don't mix well.. but the event opens today.
I hope that these clouds break and we get some sunshine soon!

New Summer Haircut
Well.. I did it.
I got my shoulder length hair all chopped off. I think this is the shortest it's been in at least 5 years, maybe even longer?
I still have some length in the front (bangs) but the back is gone, gone, gone.
No more ponytail for me :)
It should be pretty easy to take care of, which is something I appreciate. No fuss is better, especially with my super fine hair. Just thought I'd update with some news for the day.
Have a good one, all!
My Day to Be a Handywoman.
I'm proud of a pretty minor accomplishment.
Today I repaired my toilet handle, and it only took like 5 minutes. We had an extra toilet bowl here already that wasn't being used, and it had a handle on it!
So I cut the box, and got my necessary part. I Replaced the broken one and it's back in action!
The best part was it didn't require a trip to the Home Depot!
Rental Movies..
The other day I went to the video store and picked up 3 flicks,
The Boondock Saints, Transamerica, and
Surviving ChristmasI picked up Boondock Saints because we watched the documentary
Overnighta while back, and I wanted to see if the movie was as wonderful as what Troy Duffey thought it was. It wasn't. It was long a movie that was disjointed and had a lot of violence mixed in. I failed to see the brilliance in it, but somehow made it all the way through without falling asleep, probably because all of the gunfire. Put it this way, I enjoyed the documentary more than the movie itself.. FWIW.
'Transamerica' was a heart touching film. I wasn't sure if it would be something that we would enjoy, but it surprised us with an interesting story line that didn't really touch on the "sexual" part of being transgendered. It focused more on pressures that society and families put on transgendered people. Felicity Hoffman played an excellent role as Bree/Stu.
'Surviving Christmas' was a pretty good film based on everyone's favorite time of the year, Christmas. A rich young man (Ben Afflick) offers a workaday family $250,000 to spend Christmas with them, and treat him as their son. Add some misunderstandings, a daughter that returns from college and you're in for a laugh.
Both Transamerica and Surviving Christmas were worth the $1.99 rental fee and are worth checking out, if you haven't already!
Nacho Libre.. Touche!
Yesterday we decided to see Nacho Libre starring Jack Black and Hector Jimenez.
If you're a fan of Napoleon Dynamite, chances are you'll enjoy Nacho Libre. Hector Jimenez plays an outrageous role as Nacho's partner, Esqueleto, or "the skeleton", as they fight for "pesos" to pay for food at the monastery where Nacho grew up at, and works as the "resident chef".
Add some kids, a pretty nun, and some fierce fighting contenders and this one is sure to leave you laughing.
Ebert didn't like this one that much, but we did.
That's why critics only serve as a guideline. Just because they didn't like a film doesn't mean that you won't!
More Hijinx from Fagan the Cat
This cat is always up to something. Today he fetched himself a serpent..
Well, more like a gardener snake.
He walked up to the door with it hanging out of his mouth. Ick.
I snapped a picture of him looking happy with himself with his conquest.. Here it is..
Finally.. A movie I want to see!
It's been a long time since we've went to the theater for a couple of reasons.
1. The weathers been nice. Who wants to sit in a dark theater when the sun is shining?
2. There have been no movies that have seems even slightly interesting to us.
Until today. Nacho Libre hits the big screen. It looks funny, and Jack Black is one of my favorite actors. Sure, he isn't a "deep" character, but he always makes us laugh.
Seeing him as a wrestler should be a real crack up.
Hopefully we'll make it to the theater in the next few days.. I'll be sure to update with a review..
Nice Summer Day
What a nice summer day!
The temps are comfortable and in the lower 70's, the sun is out and we're thinking about making a trip to the swimming pool. Hopefully it isn't too cold yet..
We've yet to ride our bikes for the day.. The last two days we've rode a 6 miles.. A mile more than what we used to do. We're slowly going to add a mile here and there to challenge ourselves a little bit. I've also dropped to a lower gear to work my legs harder. I prefer a nice hard pedal, but spinning my legs will help cut the flab from my butt and thighs.
That's what I need more than anything else.. :)
Black Blogs= Difficult to Read
I was surfing around on blogger, doing the "Random" blog thing and came to the conclusion that Black Blogs are hard to read.
I wonder if the authors consider this when they pick their theme?
I'm sure a lot of these blogs contain useful information that I would read, but the gray writing makes my eyes tired. :(
So that is my Blogger tip for the day.. Use any other background color.. Skip black!
Denny's for Eats
While we were waiting an oil change the other day, we decided to grab a little something to eat at Denny's.
I never realized that Denny's has very little on their menu that doesn't have meat.
They do offer a Boca Burger for a vegetarian alternative, so that's nice.
All of their entree salads are served with meat, so you're left with a side salad as the only option.
We ended up getting Veggie omelets, that were served with hash browns and toast.
It wasn't a bad meal for breakfast, but I doubt that we'll visit there for lunch anytime soon.
Bummed About Bonnevilles.. Or the Lack of Them..
We took our Bonneville in for an oil change the other other day and as we were waiting for it to get serviced, we started talking with a salesman at the dealership.
This place has been around for years in the same location and has built up a good reputation as being a local "Pontiac" dealer. They don't sell new Chevy's, Saturns or other GM products, just Pontiacs. Every time you we've went in for service, the employees have always been friendly, nice and helpful. They even offer a free oil change, every 6th visit. The salesmen send birthday cards.. that kind of stuff.
They specialized in good customer service to build loyalty to the business, and the salesmen were knowledgeable about the cars that they sold. A good sound business approach, in my opinion.
The weather was nice, so instead of sitting in the waiting room we headed outdoors.
This is where we started conversing with this employee.
He complimented us on our car and told us that he thought "it was a shame that Pontiac pulled the Bonneville from production." I was shocked when I heard this news, since I love my car and we still have payments on it. I would've thought that this was one of their most popular cars, it's an awesome sedan. I guess I thought wrong.
This model has been in production for decades, and it's hard to say how much money GM has spent to promote sales of this car. I don't work for this company, but think this is a huge marketing mistake. We would have bought another Bonneville to replace the one we have now, but won't be able to now.
The bigger shame is that this well run business will inevitably suffer because their "vendor" is stopping production of the vehicles that they have sold for years. Sort of forcing them out of business for no good reason.
Either that or they'll need to evolve under the current marketing conditions.
How can you sell Pontiacs if there are no Pontiacs?
Happy 6.6.06
I'm happy to hear that the world survived June 6, 2006.
Boobirds were calling for catastrophe.
We, on the other hand celebrated our third wedding anniversary and went out for a nice salad (without meat.. Hurray) at a place called Smokey Bones. It's a BBQ Style restaurant that opened here a few months back.
Everyone there was very friendly and helpful, and our waiter was a "happy" young man that got the job done without saying he'd prefer to be somewhere else.
Anyhow..I have an anniversary to celebrate.. :)
Over and Out!
The Most Laid Back Cat I've Ever Known

I would have to say that Paige (the baby in the family) has to be the laziest cat I've ever known.
Her day consists mostly of sleeping in the bed, I swear to goodness somedays she doesn't leave except to eat and hit the litter box.
I thought this was a good picture of her looking sleepy eyed. That's the way she looks most days!
Travel DVD's are Cool
I'm happy that I have access to a public library.
Yesterday I decided to stop in to look for a book and see what else I might find there.
They didn't have the book that I was looking for (which didn't really surprise me because it was technical in nature, and probably not something sought after by the masses.)
However I did find a great DVD that was basically a tour of Hong Kong and Taiwan.
I love these types of shows, because it reminds me how little our perception of the world can be if you never leave your house or go anywhere.
Hong Kong has to be amazing in real life, it was stunning on film and is now another destination on my list of "Places to go". Hong Kong uses Feng-shui to create balance and beauty in their booming city. Taiwan looks equally amazing.
The name of this video is "Destination Travel Guide Hong Kong & Taiwan"

Happy June!
I can't believe that the month of June is here already.
I'm happy that summer is finally here and we can leave the short, cold days of winter behind us for a few months.
The pools around here will be opening soon, as soon as the lifeguards get done with school, I'm guessing. We're supposed to have a slight chill and rain for the next 3 or 4 days here so it shouldn't matter much.
I've already got a nice little base tan to build on, so getting a nice bronze tan shouldn't be a problem. I'm not buying a bikini though. I wanted to and have changed my mind until I can lose some of this stupid fat. It would be easier not to care and buy one anyhow, but I'm in no mood to see myself plump in a two piece.
That means I've got work to do!
